Special Guest: Master Sommelier Barbara Werley & Executive Chef James Johnson

Barbara Werley is one of only six Master Sommeliers in the state of Texas and one of only 21 female Master Sommeliers in North America. Werley was the fourth American woman to pass the MS and the first graduate of the Culinary Institute of America to become a Master Sommelier.

As wine director for Pappas Bros. Steakhouse - Dallas, Werley is responsible for an inventory of more than 35,000 bottles of wine from the restaurant’s extraordinary wine collection. She has been named “Best Sommelier” in Dallas by both D Magazine's Reader's Poll and the CultureMap Tastemaker Awards. She also is responsible for providing continuous wine education and programs for both the wait staff and patrons. In her work, Werley passes along to Guests the nuances of wine quality that make for a stunning dining experience.

Executive Chef James Johnson, a native of Chicago, graduated from the culinary arts programs at Oakland Community College in Farmington Hills, MI, while working full-time as a sous chef at a local restaurant. His work ethic and culinary skill quickly got him noticed, and Johnson moved to Dallas to serve as senior sous chef at The Mansion on Turtle Creek.

Before joining Pappas Bros. Steakhouse in 2006, Johnson was called upon to open some of Dallas’ most exciting dining ventures including the American Airlines Center’s Platinum Club and French bistro Paris Vendome as well as serving as chef de cuisine at Hibiscus, another of Dallas’ fine dining stars.

Johnson has been responsible for the reputation of the premier steakhouse in Dallas ever since. Chef Johnson is also the driving culinary force behind all of Pappas Bros. Steakhouse Wine Dinners in Dallas.

Master Sommelier Barbara Werley teams up with Executive Chef James Johnson for a food and wine event, pairing selections from our vast, award-winning collection with a carefully-crafted chef's menu. Prepare to be surprised and dazzled by the Ultimate Masters Series Wine Dinner on Friday, September 19th at 7pm.

Each guest will have the opportunity to test their "mastery" and to truly engage with both the Master Sommelier and the Executive Chef. The "mastery" comes into play as each guest attempts to "guess" the blind wine tasting with each of the five courses.

Sous Vide Dry-Aged Strip Steak

Slow-Roasted Pork Rack
fingerling potatoes, red wine apple & fig sauce, brussel sprouts
