Born in Provence and now based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Gregory Castells has forged a remarkable career in wine and fine dining. After training at the Escoffier Restaurant School and the Sommelier School of Tain L'Hermitage, Gregory worked at Michelin-starred restaurants in France, including La Palme d’Or and Le Juana. He then joined Gordon Ramsay’s three-star Michelin restaurant in London and later developed the wine program for Petrus.
After moving to the U.S. in 2001, Gregory served in a number of prestigious roles at renowned restaurants, including Wine Director at Philadelphia’s Le Bec-Fin and Chef Sommelier at The French Laundry, where he was recruited by Thomas Keller himself and earned Wine Spectator’s Grand Award. Transitioning beyond restaurants, he spent five years as Wine Director for Soutirage, a Napa Valley fine wine merchant.
In 2012, Martine Saunier hand-selected Gregory to succeed her as owner and president of Martines Wines. Today, he leads the renowned importer and wholesaler with CEO Kate Laughlin, sourcing exceptional wines from France and beyond for American tables.
Join Gregory Castells, owner and president of Martine's Wines, and Michelin-recognized Master Sommelier Steven McDonald at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse – Houston Galleria for an extraordinary evening of celebrated French wines paired with a meticulously crafted multi-course menu.
Founded in 1979 by the legendary Martine Saunier, Martine's Wines has introduced the world to France and Portugal’s most iconic producers, including Château Lafleur, Domaine Bernard-Bonin, and Champagne Gonet-Médeville.
